Dateline Kamuning:   The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) welcomes President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to tap the private sector in the digitalization of the national ID system, particularly its use cases, for seamless transactions across government agencies and private entities. “Given the 75.8 million Filipinos who have already registered to PhilSys, we are eager to collaborate with the private sector to further accelerate our progress in expanding our use cases. Marcos Jr. issued a directive Thursday, January 12, 2023 to speed up the digitalization of the National Identification (ID) system that could be used for public and private transactions. During his meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) on Digital Infrastructure in Malacañang, among those discussed were the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) proposed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for the launching of the Digital PhilID App.     Among the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) targets are the kickstarting of a mobile app in the first quarter of this year with private sector assistance through PPPs to support PSA’s efforts to digitalize the National ID system. Agad sanang maipatupad ang panukalang batas sa National ID system. Napananahon at talagang kailangan para sa seguridad ng lahat. Hindi dapat katakutan kung walang itinatago. Mga kiriminal lang ang   tututol sa National ID System. Sa totoo lang masyadong naabuso ang paggamit ng mga ‘Identification Card’ na pinagkakakitaan ng mga grupong mukhang pera. Naglipana ang katakot-takot na ID, mula sa PNP, militar, Anti-Crime Organization, mga volunteer group at iba pang grupong-sibiko na magkaminsan ay ginagamit sa pangongotong o makaligtas sa mga umiiral na batas tulad ng batas-trapiko. Mas maraming kapakinabangan sa pagkakaroon ng iisang sistema ng pagkakakilanlan ng mga Pilipino. Marami pa ring mga Pilipino ang walang government issued ID, kaya naman kapag pumasok sa mga transkasiyon o kontrata ay hirap.
