PH EMBASSY HOSTS LAUNCH OF “THE PHILIPPINES MATTERS FOR AMERICA/AMERICA MATTERS FOR THE PHILIPPINES” PUBLICATION

13 JUNE 2021, WASHINGTON D.C. – The Embassy of the Philippines hosted the official launch of “The Philippines Matters for America/America Matters for the Philippines” publication, capping the yearlong celebration of the 75th year anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the United States.

The East-West Center in Washington partnered with the Embassy of the Philippines and the U.S. Embassy in Manila to come up with an infographics project that sums up important aspects of the bilateral relations. These include security, trade and investments, health and environment, development assistance, culture, people-to-people ties, among others.

"There is no doubt that the Philippines matters for the United States and the United States matters for the Philippines. As President-elect Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. told Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman when they met in Manila recently, the Philippines’ partnership with the United States 'is not just a memory but a part of us'. This is true not only in terms of our government-to-government relations but in the close ties between our two peoples,” Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez said in his remarks.

The launch event was held back-to-back with the diplomatic reception hosted by the Embassy to commemorate the 124th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence.

Ambassador Romualdez underscored that the Philippines-United States relationship has stood the test of time and remains relevant amidst new and emerging challenges, and expressed confidence in a stronger and expansive partnership in the years to come.
